It’s been quite a while since we had a meeting. The guild decided to skip
December, as many people had very busy schedules in that month. Come January, we were sidelined by the icy and snowy weather that dragged on and on and made getting up any hills a problem unless one had snow tires. Then, at last, came February, and we decided to throw a bit of a party in honour of our eighth anniversary. Really, eight years we’ve been at this!
So we had a delicious sit-down dinner and a wide variety of catch-up conversations. Then we voted on the favourite book of 2016 (Evangelical Exodus), read some book reviews, and then chose an Irish novel, The Land of Spices by Kate O’Brien, for our April book.
Our hostess had prepared some interesting questions for discussion and also a fun trivia game that required a little enjoyable self-revelation.
We also decided that, since I am done for now with chemotherapy, we will return to our previous habit of meeting on the second Monday of the month, thereby giving a series of firm dates for members’ planning.
Next meeting, then, will be on March 13, 7:30, and we will continue to meet at Mary’s house. May our ninth year as a group continue to be as enjoyable and successful as the previous eight!
